Google Nest Video Doorbell Buyers Guide

Do You Need a Nest Subscription?

The Google Nest Doorbell will work without a Nest Subscription but video recordings won't be stored for longer than 3 hours without it.

A Nest Aware Subscription will record motion events to the cloud and you'll be able to view them for 30 days.

Without a subscription you'll still be able to view the live video feed and have access to two way audio.

Does the Nest Doorbell have a Chime?

Unlike many video doorbells, the Nest doesn't come with an audio "chime". You'll get a notification on your phone as well as on any Google Assistant enabled speakers and displays. We recommend getting a Nest Mini which will act as the doorbell speaker.

Is this a Wired or Wireless Doorbell

In Australia Google sells the battery version of the Nest Video Doorbell. This is not compatible with existing wired doorbells. It uses batteries and can be installed anywhere around the door.

Does the Google Nest Doorbell Work with HomeKit

The Google Nest will work with the Google Home app on your iPhone (or Android) device, but it's not compatible with HomeKit.

If you want to connect the Google Nest Doorbell to Homekit you can use the Starling Home Hub.
